Astorga Cathedral Catholic church in Spain

Cathedral of Santa Maria de  Astorga church is a prime tourism attraction for tourists travelling the northern side of Spain. This gothic style cathedral was built around 1741 and declared a national Spanish monument in 1931.

The cathedral of Astorga has been called Apostolic since immemorial times as its origin is very close to the preaching of the apostles. Built on the site of an 11th century Romanesque cathedral, it is a splendid example of how art in its different styles can come together to build a magnificent work of architectural art. The apses of the late 15th-century Gothic chevet bear a striking resemblance to German cathedrals, the south-east façade beautifully reflects the Renaissance style, and the monumental main façade is full of the power of the Baroque times.

We recommend buying the tickets the same directly on the cathedral's website. The main reason is that the website provides the prices without any intermediaries. Alternatively, approach the desk and pay for the tickets at the door.
