Astorga was under Roman control and in particular, the Roman museum (La Ergástula) was built over some of the partially excavated  roman ruins. It contains a rich collection of historical documents, ruins, and artefacts. Around the exterior areas there are various Roman ruins throughout the town such as the roman baths. 

Guided tours (in Spanish) are available however due to its popularity we recommend booking tickets in advance. Nonetheless, people are still welcome to visit the museum and ask questions to the staff about the place.
